Drift Kings International Series confirms 2020 revised calendar.
Drift Kings International Series has now announced the updated venues and dates for its 2020 championships. After racing was put on hold because of the coronavirus outbreak, Drift Kings team has been working to put together a plan to allow the season to begin safely. Considering international events require all European borders to be opened and restrictions on public events to be lifted, an additional delay has been applied before starting this season. An intense, compact and challenging 2020 season is ahead for Drift Kings International Series with this revised calendar, comprised of high-speed venues and a Pro Series final on top of the hill! The season will kick off with the old school 2009 K5-K10 layout at Serres race track on September 5-6, followed 2 weeks later by the legendary Tököl Drift Arena in Hungary. The sunny Serres Racing Circuit of Greece which is always immensely popular with both the fans and drivers remains on calendar, but this time with a double round on October 3-4. And we close this European season with a Touge final round at Nigrita on October 11-12. A significant rule change shall apply for the 2020 season. Drift Kings Europe Pro2 and Queen will become a full series of 4 rounds, with their Finals held at Serres Racing Circuit, Greece. Meanwhile, the Pro Series shall comprise of five rounds, with the Grand Final held at the Nigrita mountain! The Cyprus ProSeries final originally scheduled on October 31, as well as Slovakiaring season opener are delayed to 2021 season, meanwhile we continue to support PowerDrift Club and the Cyprus National Series composed of two racing week-ends this year. We will also offer an extra Greek Challenge with separate rankings for all Greek drivers attending the three Hellenic rounds. Drift Kings Asia was our first series created outside of Europe and established in 2015. For 2020, we return to Asia for the sixth consecutive season in a double-round competition, with extreme sadness to delay Nikko Circuit to 2021 season but we proudly confirm two rounds at Speedway Plus Circuit in Malaysia. Michael Procureur, Drift Kings International Series CEO, commented: “No one expected to face such pandemic situation this year but giving up has never been an option. We will always be there for our fans, drivers and partners! We have a very challenging 2020 series with a surprising Touge final, we will crown the Pro Series champion this season on the top of the hill!”. The health and safety of all involved will continue to be priority number one, with Drift Kings International Series having a robust and detailed plan to ensure the races maintain the highest level of safety with strict procedures in place.
